Briggs of Burton in North America & Latin America
Briggs of Burton delivers process engineering solutions across North and Latin America for the food, alcoholic beverage, and life sciences sectors. BRIGGS has completed major projects in the US, Mexico, and Canada, and continues to support Central and South America with spare parts for legacy brewing equipment. Larger projects in Latin America would be delivered through the wider Briggs Group.

United States of America
BRIGGS has operated in the US for over 40 years, starting with brewing and later expanding into food, pharmaceuticals, and distilled spirits. Our work includes thermal heating of stills, large pre-assembled units for insulin manufacture, and cereal cookers for major food producers. These projects are often large-scale and complex, requiring flexible designs for varied recipes and production schedules.

Canada
BRIGGS has helped leading Canadian whisky producers evaluate operations and expand capacity. Working closely with our Upstate New York team, we have delivered feasibility studies, retrofits, and upgrades from grain handling through to distillation, including CRN-rated equipment

Mexico
BRIGGS has developed deep expertise in tequila and mezcal production, working with major local and international brands. Our projects range from design studies to full EPC delivery, improving health and safety, automation, energy recovery, and water reduction.

Latin America
BRIGGS primarily supports Latin America with spare parts for legacy brewhouse equipment, with larger projects delivered through the CLPT Group’s global resources.

Why Choose BRIGGS for Your Next Americas Project?
BRIGGS understands North American legislative requirements and designs ASME-compliant systems, including pressure vessels and heat exchangers. We maintain a strong health and safety record with OSHA-trained teams and functional safety expertise. Our experience includes transitioning legacy brownfield sites and adding new functionality to meet modern production needs.

The National Spirits of Mexico

Mexico, known for its rich history and vibrant culture, is home to two iconic spirits: tequila and mezcal. Both are deeply rooted in tradition and showcase the craftsmanship of agave producers, symbolizing Mexico’s heritage worldwide.
Tequila – is made primarily from blue agave grown in Jalisco and nearby regions.
Its production involves harvesting, cooking the piñas, fermenting, and distilling, resulting in a distinctive spirit enjoyed neat, in cocktails like margaritas, or as a classic shot with salt and lime.
Mezcal – older and more artisanal, can be made from various agave species.
Traditionally crafted in small batches, it uses underground roasting pits and clay or copper stills, giving it a smoky character. Mezcal’s unique flavors make it ideal for sipping or mixing in cocktails.
